Redesigning a Northwest style living room

When the weather's chilly outside, I like to imagine sitting inside of a log cabin, cuddled under a blanket in front of a big stone fireplace!

That's a possibility for the clients of this beautiful Northwest home.  Inside, there are cedar-planked walls and vaulted ceilings and a views of tall fir trees as far as you can see through the windows.

I came to this home to Redesign the living room.  This is a perfect example of a home with GREAT bones!  Using the existing furniture and accessories, I repositioned and renewed for a new look and feel.

Take a look at the room before...

I love these big windows!  I wouldn't want to clean them but I'd like to sit and stare out of them for a few hours!

The stairs to the right go up into a loft, overlooking the room.

There's a perfect little alcove just beyond the entry for the Grandkids to play.

Here's a great view of the stone fireplace.  The built-in shelves to the left are an ideal place to display the client's collection of fossils and stones.

I used the angles of the windows to arrange the sofa and loveseat.  A small table between the two provides a place to put a lamp to light that side of the room.

The armchair sits opposite the loveseat with a lamp next to it.  From there they have a straight on view of the fireplace.  I put several plants in front of the windows to take advantage of the natural light.  It's hard to view them in the picture with all of the green coming in from outdoors!

I sat an antique piano seat next to the chair for a place to rest a book or drink.

The play area is still located in the alcove.  Some of the toys were taken downstairs and I put a small rocking chair here for the little ones.

On the far left, I placed an antique sewing machine that was previously in the entry.

No purchases were necessary to give this great room a new look!  What do you have sitting in another room that may look perfect someplace else?  Go shopping at home, it's free!

Thanks for visiting!

Beautiful redesign to complement the beautiful, natural setting, Gina! Uncovering the coffee table and placing the sewing machine alongside the fireplace added the "wood warmth" that I really like! Good job!
