Ikea has these simple square lamps for $7.99. I'd been searching for a nightlight for my Master bedroom because I don't like to turn on a big light every time I walk into the room. The lamp was the right size but didn't have the look I was going for. I bought it with the idea that I would figure out a way to jazz it up a bit.
GRÖNÖ Table lamp, frosted glass.
I began by printing out an image I liked and taped it inside the lit lamp. I used the image as a guide, but added more swirls and leaves after I had painted the basic picture .
I used a black paint pen from Sharpie. These are wonderful when you want cleaner lines than a paint brush would give you. They come in a lot of great colors and can be purchased at Michaels.
I thought I was so clever, transforming this little light until I did a search of the Grono table lamp and found that my transformation wasn't the first to be done.
Someone placed mosaic tiles around them.
Someone else placed 35mm negatives inside. There are probably dozens of cute ideas to embellish these cute lamps. I might need to go back and get one for each room in the house!
